Travel does not always mean going far away

Updated: Sep 28, 2020

There many great places close to home. Travel does not have to be distant or expensive.

Hop on the local transportation and find a new spot to kick it.

If you live in an area lucky enough to have decent public transportation, then why not take an adventure at a new stop? All too often, we get on and get off (public transportation) at the same locations every day. We pass or miss so many others that a trip to a new stop could open wonders you may have never known about. You may find a new attraction. You may find your new favorite eating spot. You may even find the love of your life ;). So go explore! Find a new market or discover new hangout spots.

"But I don't live in an area with public transportation..."

Do not fret my friend. There is still plenty to explore. One option is to rent a motor vehicle. (In my opinion, this is the absolute best thing you can do. But more on that later.) By renting a car, truck, van, or even motorcycle/scooter. You are free to adventure anywhere you desire. Are you looking to check-out a place 'off the map'? A motor vehicle can get you there (or at least close). Are you dreaming of having the freedom to get up and go whenever you want? A motor vehicle can give you that freedom. A rental offers the freedom to move about as you wish. And if you do not have a license...

Well thank you Uber!

You may be saying to yourself, "Well there is no public transportation and I do not have a drivers license." Call an Uber (or local pick-up service in your country). We are so lucky to live in a time where we can call or tap an app and be picked up! It's almost like we are all royalty. These services allow us to expand our travel territories like never before. Let's take advantage of it!

No excuse is a good excuse.

Let's forget transportation for a moment and remember that we have two legs (or wheels) that can get us from point A to B. Take a new route to work. Go exploring with a walk in a new direction on weekends (that's what I do). Introduce yourself to a new acquaintance, and build a relationship. Each of these options can be achieved with the limbs we were endowed with. That is why there is no excuse to get out there and explore!

Last, but not least.

Don't forget that a good book can take you out of this world even if for a moments time. A book, of any kind, can open your mind to new ideas, different perspectives, emotional understanding, or just some good 'ole fun. When you feel stuck (at home or on the road) open a book. Slow down, read, understand, and enjoy the adventures. Books are a great way to "travel" without ever leaving the comforts we are all accustomed to.
